New Providence, Bahamas – When Wilson Bain entered Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits Carmichael Road location, he had no idea that his purchase would result in the opportunity of a lifetime. As the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup – the world’s most-watched sporting event – Budweiser has been making the dreams of Bahamian soccer enthusiasts a reality for years. Now in 2022, the brand is back again this time fulfilling the dream of a father/son duo to watch the match live from Qatar.
“Back in 2018, we were very pleased to send a lucky Bud drinker and their guest of choice to the Russia World Cup. The success of that promotion was really what prompted us to bring the promotion back” explained AB InBev Brand Manager Nathan Arnett.
In July of this year, Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits officially launched the FIFA Promotion which simply required hopeful contestants to purchase a can or bottle 6-pack of Budweiser, fill out the entry card information and drop it into the entry box. Over the three-month promotion period, thousands of submissions were received, but when the drawing officially closed on September 15, it was Wilson’s name on the lucky ticket.
“Winning this trip is really an opportunity of a lifetime” Bain gushed. “Being able to see everything live and in living color will be a dream come true.”
Come November 26th, the winners will be whisked away on an exclusive and all-expense-paid excursion courtesy of Budweiser; during which time they will travel in style and receive first-class accommodations in Qatar’s BUD Hotel. When they’re not taking in the exciting soccer matches, they’ll enjoy unfettered access to Budweiser-sponsored concerts and events.
“Our mission is to ensure that our winners enjoy the full experience,” said Arnett, “we truly value the support of our customers and so opportunities to reward their loyalty in such a major way are always exciting.” This year’s winners will also receive a complimentary Budweiser package with Budweiser merch such as t-shirts, bags, water bottles, and more.
Bain, a soccer enthusiast at his core, is a former player and coach whose son now also plays the sport. “I’m very excited that I get to share this experience with my son. We both love the game and so I’m looking forward to sharing this special moment with him as well.”
